The Manifesto

Chances are, many questions can be answered by reading the Manifesto.

How can I get my project hosted at the Safehaus?

First of all, it needs to be an interesting project, for some ever-changing definition of "interesting". Then, talk to Jury Duty.

What license do projects at the Safehaus use?

Projects are free to choose their own license, however, we highly recommend to use one of these existing licenses

What is your take on the advertising clause?

Give credit where credit is due and demanded by the license. Seems only fair. Advertising clause does not offend us.

Are dual-licensed projects supported?

Yes and no. We understand that open source and commercial license can go hand-in-hand together. However we encourage a dual-licensed project to create an exception clause for other open source project. (i.e: LGPL is not compatible with MPL, etc).

Do you consider (Apache|OpenSymphony|SourceForge|ObjectWeb) as your enemy?

Absolutely not. In fact, a lot of us are also an active member from those communities.

Why are you using (Jira|Confluence|Perforce)? It's not free software!

It's free for us, and we're pragmatic. Use the best tools available for the money.

How can I support the Safehaus?

See our page specifically addressing How to support the Safehaus.

What's with the ads on all the pages? They are selling closed-source software!

Yes, you're right. But they also provide us with revenue, and we don't mind the competition. The Google AdSense program allows us to display plain and unobtrusive advertising and has thus far allowed the haus to be entirely self-supporting for several months now.
